We achieved with flickr slide show wrapper (fssw) over 2000 downloads within 6 months. Why did I not use my paypal account and ask for some bucks? 
Wordpress 2.7 will be out pretty soon (basically this blog is running on 2.7 already since months - currently beta 2)
Check out this site to see which of your plugins will still work with 2.7.
