SAP Constellation offers in their Business Tools Catalog (BTC) a function for creating timelines:

Lets you plan project milestones, set their dates and communicate these to the team.
Every project has milestones: points in time when work has to be done, a product has to be delivered, or a major event occurs. These are things everyone in your project needs to be aware of, dates they need to keep their eyes on.
The Timeline item provides a place for those special events.
A click on the timeline, some description of just what is happening and why it is important, and you have it. As the days tick by and that event draws near, the Timeline shows this so everyone knows just how much time there is until the due date.
For general planning, laying out intermediate due dates leading up to a big event, the Timeline is a great way to see just how much time you have and what needs to be done between now and then.


You can easily edit your items in a "list" view:
