Plugins

All my wordpress plugins are hosted by wordpress.org:

flickr-slideshow-wrapper (supported)
flowplayer-wrapper (legacy)
headwaythemes-filter-wrapper (legacy)

In case you are seeking for any support please post your request through a comment on this page. I will not response to requests by emails, as I want the community to be able to read responses here (FAQ like) and further more the community might be able to respond far faster than requestors waiting for my replies.

Demo:

The code for the above embedded Flickr Slideshow looks like this:

Is it possible to have the plugin display thumnails on my home page? I want to insert my flickr photostream on my footer. see my home page please to see what I mean. http://www.tatesjourney.com

  • http://www.ffphoto.com forrestfrazier

Is is possible to change the size of the thumbnails under the selected photo?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Nope, unfortunately not, as this is not offered by the API from flickr.com. Reason why this plugin is called “wrapper”. It only can call what flickr.com offers – and that’s unfortunately not too much in regards to desirable features for such a plug-in.

  • staalplaat

I can not find my User-ID: (flickr) on http://www.slideflickr.com/ or do you rever to the ID of each slide show that I create?
    (when i create one)

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Each slideshow you are creating.

    Thanks for this Plugin,
the one i was searching for… a week now !
    Great work !
    Works well.

    Best regards

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Laurent, thank you very much!

  • Yuji Moriki

Is this plug-in pulls text from Flick as well?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Nope, pics only.

  • JJ

hi. how do I use the flickr-slideshow-wrapper? It’s installed and configured but the doesn’t work in my content. It does nothing but show the set id text…. what’s the command line to make it show the images only?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

You most probably put this code not in the HTML section but in the main WYGWYS section. Meanwhile FSSW has the more accurate tag (recommended by wordpress) which you can put in the main editor: [set_id=XYZ]. XYZ is your flickr-set-id without any quotes. Please ensure that you are using a set-id which shows public content on flickr (hidden, private content will not show up).

If it is still not working there is most probably an interference with some other plugins. Therefore we will need more information about your installation.

  • Shane

    Hey,

Nice plugin. Is there a way to set the size of the slideshow?

    Thanks!

    • Shane

Sorry! I posted before looking properly!! All sorted…

      • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Thank you for your comment. There is a certain limitation with the re-sizing, basically for the reason that flickr API does not allow officially the modifications and hence they are not scaling the images properly – but with a little playing around you normally should find the right settings.

  • Massiace

    Hi,
it’s a really great plugin and much more nicer than all the other slideshows that you can find in WP. Thank you very much!
I just wonder if it’s possible to set it up not to play automatically the pictures. Because when you have several slideshows on the same page, everything is running at the same time and when you scroll down, you realize that you’ve missed the first one…
Thank you once again for it

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Massiace, thank you very much for your nice words. Unfortunately this is limited by flickr themselves and there is nothing we can really do about it but organizing your site as such that you have only one slideshow per page …

  • Denye

Hello ! Thank you for such nice and cleanstyle plugin ! Is it possible to make a loop viewing ( without asking “Would you like to start again ” ) ?
    Denis

    • Denye

Also , unfortunatly default Flikr slideshow dont show my images ( where XYZ – my set № ) .. just Flikr images from main stream .

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Hi Denye, thank you for the compliments. Unfortunately not, as this the standard functionality flickr.com is offering and can’t be overruled. Sorry. Cheers, Jeannot

  • Dawn

I am getting an error while trying to load the plugin. Here is what it says, “Incompatible Archive. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature.” Any suggestions??

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Dawn, thank you for reporting this. I assume you meanwhile made some google researches and you will have found out that this is basically not related to an error with the plugin but with your wordpress installation. Most probably your webspace is running out of space and you need to organize more space, one more reason could be to comment the mbstring.func_overload in your php.ini.

More information can be found on google and perhaps in the following article: http://www.itsadam.co.uk/wordpress-error-incompatible-archive-pclzip_err_bad_format/

Please don’t hesitate to stay in touch with us if you were able to solve this issue. I just tested the download and upgrade of the plugin on some wordpress test environments and can confirm that the plugin is still working.

  • Sinndorfer

    Hello,
I try flowplayer-wrapper, but I see nothing. No Splash-IMG, no Video.

All your links outside are broken or direct to here. But nowhere a FAQ or Instructions.
The link to the help of the commercial version (wordpress.org) get Error 404

I Try this as a example:
    [fpw width=640 height=320 splash=/wp-content/gallery/Bilder/a4f_beauty_159.jpg]/wp-content/gallery/filme/PassendeGroesse.mpg[/fpw]

I try it also only with the path.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

links are corrected now. Sorry, not too many people are downloading this plugin (not comparable to the flickr-slideshow-wrapper) and none is giving feedback, that is why it is not actively supported. The link to flowplayer is http://flowplayer.org/ – I just tested it on my install, and can make a video run, hence I assume the installation of flowplayer is wrong on your side. Regards, J.

  • Mathew

    Hello,

I isntalled the flickr slideshow wrapper yesterday under WordPress 3.0.1. It´s working 98%, which means I have problems in getting the pictures showed in a full-screen mode. The footer is flipping in and out, the header too, but it remains a black bar on the top of the picture. Once I have clicked the picture the get the details and going back, the picture is showing properly.

    Any idea?

    Mathew

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Mathew,

I can’t reproduce this effect on my installation but want to help you closing the gap of 2%. Did you try to deactivate all other plugins? It seems that it could be an interference with some other codings. Alternatively you could send me the link to your page, so that I can have a closer look at it.

      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • Rolf

Thank you for this handy plugin.

Is there a way to change the background color and the preset speed of the slideshow?

    Cheers

    Rolf

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Rolf,

Thank you for your candid words. Unfortunately it isn't possible due to restrictions from flickr.com. Their API doesn't allow any outside program to change none of the suggested settings. Flickr.com didn't change their API for years, so I don't expect any changes …

      Regards,

      Jeannot

  • http://tombegasse.com Tom Begasse

OK … I have this somewhat figured out. I am trying to set the width and hight to 500. When I go into the settings, edit the fields and click save, the settings are not saved. They are just cleared out and there is nothing there.

    What am I doing wrong?

    • Alex

      same happens with me :(

      can´t make step forward..

      • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

That is very strange but it happened already in the past. The issue is that a wordpress developer you don't get a dedicaded workspace for variables – that means that in case another developer uses the same workspace we are running into trouble.

I fixed this 2 years ago, by changing the prefix for my variables, but it might be that it appears again. I'm currently on a trip to Asia and can test since only once back at home.

If your flickr photos are defined as being public it should work even without those settings (that's what the majority of 10k users report).

Nevertheless I'll have a look at it before year end and eventually change the coding.

        Thank you for reporting this.

        • http://www.jpb-design.nl Jeroen

          Hi!
Any chance this problem will be solved shortly? Having the same problem and would like this plugin to work with flexible heights and widths.

          THNX!!

          • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

            Hi Jeroen,

I had indeed a look a deeper look at it. It seems that the whole scaling stuff is limited by the flickr/API. Means if you do resize the window, the thumbnails are cut and we are running into other issues. I wrote again an email to flickr, asking if there are any plans to change the API anytime soon. No response so far, perhaps you can push it from your side too.

This said I didn’t change the coding yet, as I’m still quite busy and a change without an effect is just waste …

            Regards,
            Jeannot

          • Rick Ray

I’m having the same issue. I can’t save any FSSW settings. (Enter any data – for example User-ID – then click Save Changes, but the fields are all blank after saving. This happens even when all other plugins are disabled. I’ve used FSSW on other WP installations with no problem.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Should be fixed right now.

  • http://www.phsclassof1966.com Phillip Ross

I have installed this plugin and linked it to my flickr group 1500751@N24 on this page:

    http://phsclassof1966.com/?page_id=44

    with in the HTML area.

On the FSSR admin page I have added 1511099@N24 to the User-ID: (flickr) box.

But nothing appears on the page, and I don't know why. Please help.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

You have to add [set_id=XYZ] to your coding as described in the specification. The settings are anyhow experimental only, as the API for flickr has serious restrictions.

I got some emails today from friends confirming everything still works fine.

      • http://www.phsclassof1966.com Phillip Ross

Yes, I did that, but the < and > characters caused everything between them to not show.

The instructions on FSSW admin page read:

Call your flickr-slideshow-wrapper by adding to your content. Please do not forget to replace XYZ by the set-id of the flickr-set you want to implement (flickr.com).

Is it less than and greater than characters (< >) or brackets []?

Either way, it still doesn't work – http://phsclassof1966.com/?page_id=44

It is possible that my problem is a flickr problem, but I have no idea what that might be either.

        • http://www.phsclassof1966.com Phillip Ross

Okay. I've connected by my flickr group photos don't show up, and I don't know why.

  • jeannot_muller

I'm a little lost right now, please use just use the [set_id=XYZ] syntax, the < > syntax can be used in the HTML view only (as for any other plugin).

  • Ian

Hi Jeannot, can you give an example of what you mean by “XYZ”? Are you referring to the username, the user ID, or something else? I am just wanting to show my latest public photos. Thank you.

    • Ian

I think the ideal solution is a shortcode. Just enter username or user ID in the settings and then paste in the shortcode wherever to display the photos.

I’ve been searching for a while for that and will pay for it, but I’ve found the only plugin to do that cost the same as an annual Flickr Pro membership, annually, which seems a bit much for a plugin.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Ian,

it depends what XYZ as a placeholder stands for. May I ask you if you read

      http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/flickr-slideshow-wrapper/installation/

where the settings are explained. Same for some comments here, addressing similar issues :-) .

Please come back to me, if I didn’t get your question.

      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • Cowon

Hi, can you clarify #6 “With your are able to compile your own tag-based set from flickr. Please refer to idgettr.com to get the relevant information.”
What exactly is the information from idgettr used for? It seems to be merely an ID for my Flickr username, but seems to have no relevance to tags (and doesn’t seem to work for any of the other options in flickr-slideshow-wrapper). Can it somehow be used to create a slideshow of pictures from a specific user with a specific tag?

  • http://nds.shootonline.com Michael M

    Hi–

I have a question about the flowplayer wrapper–as is, it works like a charm. Is there any coding I can add to the php coding that will allow me to implement additional flowplayer plugins? Your help is appreciated!

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Michael,

I’m quite positively surprised it is still working and like charm. I discontinued the development, which I can easily change but I would need some time and currently I’m very busy from business perspective. About which kind of plugins are you talking about. I guess some which need additional parameters, that would than be a rather customized enhancement, where I’m afraid I will not have time for it. But the coding is open source (I’m not making any money out of it) and you are absolutely invited to change it or get it changed. But I would appreciate to keep me mentioned as the original author.

      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • http://artofbaseball.net mark

Hello Mr. Muller. Thank you for the wonderful plugin. I just wanted to clarify. The setting portion of the plugin that allows the editing of the width and height is not in function right?

Do yo have any suggestions on how I can edit my slideshow perimeters?

    Thank you!

  • http://www.alteregomexicana.com/about/collections/ Nancy

Hi and thanks for the FSSW plugin. My client has reported some errors on the pages I built using the Flickr set version. I am not seeing these problems for the most part, altho in Firefox 3.6.13 with latest Flash player, occassionally I see missing images. Client’s complaint is that thumbnail bar does not re-appear after clicking an image.

Any known issue w particular browsers or Flash versions?

    Suggestions appreciated.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Nancy,

sorry for the delay in my response. I’m not aware of any particular issue, even though the dependencies on older browsers and flash versions might indeed have a (negative) impact. As always updates to the latest versions might be of benefit (not only for wordpress plugins).

http://browsershots.org/ might help you on testing browser compatibility to a certain extent.

      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • http://www.alteregomexicana.com Nancy

    Just to clarify the problem:

In some sets, particular photos’ thumbnails do not always appear. I observed this on a PC running Firefox. It seems that it’s always the same photos whose thumbnails don’t show. Please look at the “collections” page slideshow.

Many many thanks! Want to iron this out for my client.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Nancy,

this is managed by flickr and their API, FSSW is just calling it and can’t (by nature) overrule any flickr-specific settings. I assume that those photos have some limitations (aka not the right authorizations to be shown publicly, for a non-registered user). FSSW is not logging in into flickr.com – having said this, you consequently need to ensure that all the pictures you want to display are publicly available.

      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • Peter

    Hey,
I love your flowplayer wrapper plugin (you did a great job :-) ) but I think I found a syntax error which causes which causes display problems with some browsers.

Around line 214/215 the code looks like:

    —————-
    $output .= ‘‘;
    $output .= ‘flowplayer(“a.fpw”, “‘.$fpw_root_path.’/’.$fpw_player.’”, {‘;
    —————-

So an a href element is missing a “>” sign. Also “script language Javascript” isn’t w3c valid code so I’d recommend following fix:
    —————-
    ‘>‘;
    $output .= ‘flowplayer(“a.fpw”, “‘.$fpw_root_path.’/’.$fpw_player.’”, {‘;
    —————-

The “>” sign before the closing a href element fixes all problems with ie and chrome, the script type attribute is w3c valid and does the same like “language javascript”.

    Regards,
    Peter

PS: Schöne Grüße aus Österreich :-)

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi Peter,

thank you for this hint and thank you for your comments. As I’m saying on the top of this page flowplayer-wrapper is legacy and unsupported as I’m not using it anymore but youtube only. Nevertheless this mistake is very bad one and I corrected it as we speak. Can you please double check.

      I corrected it as follows:

      $output .= ‘>‘;
      $output .= ‘flowplayer(“a.fpw”, “‘.$fpw_root_path.’/’.$fpw_player.’”, {‘;

as I believe you had s smalle mistake in your posting too, right? I corrected it on the fly, as I don’t have currently time to test this change.

Greetings from Bonn to Austria! I lived there for quite a while, so a big “Servus” to you :-)

      • Heinz

Hey Guys, as I’m looking at the code, I think the fix should be different:

Right in line 210, put away the closing tag “>” as there is one in line 215 anyway!

        greets from Vienna ;)

        • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

          Hey Heinz,
Thank you for the hint. It should be corrected right now.
          Regards,
          Jeannot

  • http://peter.schoenmann.at Peter

    Hey,
thanks for fixing the a href tag bug :)

I noticed that on line 216 the script tag is missing now (I think that’s caused by the comment formatting which delete the script tag in the code I posted above :( – WP comments obviously isn’t the best way to post code)

This bug is crucial because the player won’t work otherwise. I uploaded the fixed version of flowplayer-wrapper.php here: http://www.mediafire.com/?4vpeommfdug4d8f

The only added script type tag before the flowplayer init js code.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Thank you Peter, should be fixed right now, can you please check again. Sorry for the delay in my response. Maintaining these plugins is a hobby only :-)

  • Rick Ray

I just tested in a new WP installation: I am unable to save settings. Message says that settings have been saved, but fields are blank and slide show size does not change (for example).

    Thanks for looking into this.

  • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

    Hi Rick,

I just checked the coding throughly and have to admit that you are unfortunately damn right. The issue was related to depreciated code in PHP5. My test instance was still running on PHP4 and as such I didn’t realize this mistake …

I now update the code to work on PHP5. As WordPress announced last year that they will stop this year support of PHP4, the new versions of my plugins will now need PHP5 (which 94% of all WP users are already using today). http://wordpress.org/news/2010/07/eol-for-php4-and-mysql4/

For those of you developing themselves for wordpress and in php, the depreciated variable is $HTTP_POST_VARS. In PHP5 you must use $_POST. This command will however not being recognized on platforms running on PHP4.
    http://php.net/manual/en/reserved.variables.post.php

    • Rick Ray

Thanks, Jeannot! The update 5.0.2 fixes the issue I had.

However, now I am unable to modify any post when FSSW is activated. I get the error:
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home8/kenmoran/public_html/fwp/wp-content/plugins/flickr-slideshow-wrapper/flickr-slideshow-wrapper.php:134)

I can deactivate the plugin, then update a post, then activate it again. When I reactivate the plugin, the Plugins page reports:
The plugin generated 1 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.

      • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

See my answer to Luc above. Some really silly mistake, I didn’t see as you need to reactivate the plugin or make a change on your blog. I didn’t do both. Everything should work right now, but never say ever :-)

        • Rick Ray

I figured it was something like that. Thanks so much for your hard work.

          • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

My pleasure, does this mean everything works now for you? Regards, J.

  • http://velofun.fr Luc

    Hello,

Last release seems to provoke a “header already sent” in WP 3.1

    Luc

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Should be corrected in the new release of all 3 plugins. Unfortunately it was a “hidden” character in the EOF. Sorry for that. Would be nice to get a report if everything works right now.

  • Jan

    Hello,
at first I want to thank you, for writing this tiny gallery :-)
Is it possible, to automatically repeat the pictures in a slideshow?
I don’t want the visitors of my page to get a message, when a slideshow has ended.

    Greetings,
    Jan

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Jan,
sorry, I have bad news. There is nothing in the standard flickr.com API I can change on that behavior. It is up to them to modify their library, what they haven’t done now for years.
      J.

  • Heshan

Thanks so much for creating this plugin – brilliant. One quick question – is there a way to set the autoplay to pause so the slideshow begins at pause instead of play when a page is first visited?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi,
I’m happy that you like the plugin. Here again it all stays with flickr.com. Their API doesn’t offer this feature and hence nothing one can do from a plugin perspective. I would like to see that feature implemented but I’m waiting for 2 years now.
      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • Garzouille

Hi, is it possible to set a different language than english by a parameter for example on your player ?

    Thank you

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Hi, nope unfortunately not, again solely due to the limitations of flickr.com

      Cheers, Jeannot

  • Ironjohn

Hi! This plugin is very good. But I want to resize function. We wan’t to see the black background. Expand image… need….

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Hi, I’m not sure if I get your question right. What are you looking for? Regards, Jeannot

  • Northern_wolf

I have a symbol (@) in my Flickr user id and that seems to be breaking the plugin?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

What do you mean by breaking? Do you have any further information. Thanks for your help.

  • Kkaarthickit

some of the images from flikr are displaying

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Sorry, I don’t get your point unfortunately. Can you please be more precise? Thank you, J.

  • Photodelux

I chose the “automatic install” from within my wordpress site, but it the flickr slideshow does not appear to be running. Do I need to manually copy the file in? When I go to edit the plugin, it says it is in “flickr-slideshow-wrapper/flickr-slideshow-wrapper.php”

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

Sorry, I don’t get your point unfortunately. Can you please be more precise? Thank you, J.

  • Peter

Would it be possible to add a link to the original image in the slideshow (a link like this:

    http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5085/5297481784_15c12618b0_o.jpg
    )
, like a “download” button? It would make it much easier for family downloading images, etc.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi,

Excellent idea, however not possible. The plugin is called a wrapper as it only embeds the standard functionality of flickr’s API, they would need to get this included.

      Regards,

      Jeannot

  • http://theycallmefiction.com Fiction

Any chance you’ll be able to include the entire gallery as opposed to specific sets? I would like to be able to display all sets and allow my users to navigate through them to select which images they want to see. I really like the way this plug-in works, it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.. but it’d be great if I didn’t need to create separate pages to embed different sets through shortcodes.

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

That again, would be a great feature indeed, but it is limited but what flickr is offering though. Probably to have a certain limited on the number of pics to be processed, the way through is via sets only.

  • prashantshroff

This plugin just displays a black box without any photos

  • Peterfisch

how can you control the speed of the slide show? Can it be changed to be faster than the preset 5 sec?

    • http://www.ramgad.com Jeannot Muller

      Hi there,
Unfortunately not. Again this a feature dictated by flickr.com with no influence through the API.
      Regards,
      Jeannot

  • http://www.vghack.com Vghack

so cute, i like that boys

  • Guest12

When you look at http://www.campuscommandos.com the slideshow has some pictures that show up as black boxes? How do I fix this?

  • Bloganne

    Hey Jeannot,

Thanks for the plugin : I’ve been looking through wordpress Flickr plugins, and yours is the only one to have worked ok within 2 minutes !

However : any chance to have the image captions displayed in your slideshow ?
